EMV Device Reconciliation Process and Auto Batch vs Manual Batch
Posted by Jeff Tweddale on 23 Apr 2021 10:22 AM

BookingCenter's supported EMV devices use manual batch processes. We do not support 'auto batching' for EMV MyCard to avoid the need for forensic accounting days or months after a bad batch event.  When batching an EMV device, the device itself stores the data and it communicates via the screen to the User with any feedback or issues needing resolution.  This information is lost when attempting an 'auto batch'.  Thus, all bookingCenter properties using EMV devices manually batch as part of Night Audit, using the product we term EMV MyCard.

BookingCenter track all amounts and the number of transactions sent to the EMV device. During a batch, BookingCenter compare PMS records against the EMV device's actual amounts and transaction counts. If these are off, We display a reporting error to the screen, and in an Admin Report.  The EMV device sends the transactions through to teh processor, but marks them as "bad settle" for later manual reconciliation by a Manager or Senior Night Auditor.

If a property needs auto-bathing to occur, then they should use Traditonal MyCard as 'auto batching' as part of Night Audit, is supported in Traditonal MyCard.
