Desktop PMS | Running Utilities to fix issues with uploads or data

There are times when your BookingCenter Desktop datafile may need to have Utilities run on it to resolve issues. If this occurs, and a Support representative directs you to run these utilities, then here's how you do it:

Step 1 - how do you connect to BookingCenter's datafile?
• If you run a single computer or a Windows network without using ODB, go to Step 3 below.

Step 2
If you are running a Macintosh OS X or WIndows network using ODB, then it is necessary to have all users exit BookingCenter except the user on the server or closest to it. Then, if you are running ODB on your network, connect directly to your BookingCenter datafile by choosing Parameters | System COnfiguration and un-checking 'Use ODB'. Then, click LOGIN and login directly to your production datafile, avoiding the IDB_Admin.df1 datafile.

You want to connect directly to the datafile and NOT via ODB to perform this operation. If this is not clear to you, then stop now and seek assistance from your network adinstrator who installed ODB.

Step 3
Have all users exit BookingCenter except the one copy you will use. Go to the Utilities section (Parameters | Utilities). The name required to access it is ‘precious'.

BEFORE YOU PROGRESS TO REPAIRING YOUR BookingCenter DATAFILE - MAKE A BACKUP and store it somewhere safe!!

Go to Check Datafile choose Full Check and let BookingCenter repair any irregularities. Then, click the button called Re-Index and wait until it is done.

Once completed, you will be presented with a screen that explains that the datafile was examined successfully. Close this screen, choose "Login" from the FILE menu, and any problems should be fixed.
