My tax rate is changing. How do I update it properly?

Your tax authority might alter the tax rate at a certain date in the future.  Here is how you adjust your tax rate properly.  As taxes will only apply when a guest stays at the property, and MyPMS will post taxes during the Night Audit process, we recommend the following solution.

  1. Add a reminder to yourself (some folks use their personal calendar, others the Pass On Log - anything that will remind a staff member to do this on the 'tax change date') to make the tax chnage on teh day it occurs. For example, if the tax chnage happens in January 1, make the reminder for Jan 1.
  2. Log into the Setiup area and click Setup | Tax Configuration.
  3. Click Edit.
  4. Enter the correct tax percentage.  As an example, if the current tax is 8%, and its rising to 8.5%, then place 8.5 here in place of 8.
  5. Click Update.

From this moment onward, that is the tax rate that will be charged.
