ADA Compliance Booking Engine
Posted by Erica Johnson on 07 May 2019 01:08 PM

BookingCenter is testing our Booking Engine Templates for ADA (American with Disability Access) Compliance. These results will allow our templates to meet the highest standards of ADA Compliance using World Wide Web Consortium’s (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0 AA).

What Is ADA Compliance?

The Americans with Disabilities Act (also known as ADA) is a comprehensive civil rights law that was enacted to protect individuals with disabilities from discrimination. In 2010, Title III was added to the ADA to ensure that standards would also apply to website accessibility.  The ADA uses The World Wide Web Consortium’s (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0 AA) as the guideline for accessibility. Please note that BookingCenter will only provide ADA Compliance on your Booking Engine, not your website. Please consult your website designer for ADA Compliance testing and for any necessary updates that need to be made.

If you are in need of a faster solution, consider using our XML web service to 'build your own' Booking Engine using the data from your PMS or Channel Manager. While this is ot a trivial task, if either legal threats, or occassional glitches for disability software is making our current templates problematic, this is an immediate approach you can take.  If you would like to be updated when one or more of our templates has passed the WCAG 2.0 AA standard, contact us here.
