Maximum Book Ahead Days
Posted by Jeff Tweddale on 05 Jan 2015 02:03 PM

BookingCenter supports a feature called "Maximum Book Ahead Days" (it's set in the Setup area under Settings | Booking Engine Settings) to dis-allow an online booker from booking more than x days in the future (though not less than 365).  Keep in mind, this restrictions does NOT prevent an OTA or GDS network from making bookings in the future, though no network, to our knowledge, accepts bookings over 1 year in advance. Many OTAs have a restriction for less time, such as  Booking.com taking only 9 month in advance bookings.

For the Property Management System, however, there is no limit to as to how far ahead a booking can be entered. As long as you have entered rates into the future, the booking can occur.  But the Book by Inquiry method is the only way to way to 'book ahead' greater than 18 momths in the future in MyPMS.  The Tape Chart and Availability Chart is only available for rates up to 18 months in advance.

For example, if you have a rate set for as far as Dec 1, 2135, you will be able to make a booking today for any date up to a departure of to 2135 via the Book by Inquiry method.  If you have not bothered to enter in Rates for the future, BookingCenter creates them for 365 days in the future automatically, based on the default values in the 'Default Rates'.
