Installing or Updating BookingCenter in Microsoft Vista



With Version 6, when Installing or Updating BookingCenter in Microsoft Vista, some users had an error trying to launch the application.

To update your copy of BookingCenter in Microsoft Vista... Make sure you
turn off UAC - Microsoft's User Access Control. (Use the Windows help to find it).

if it is on, then regardless of what you do to install... it looks like the new version of your application is there in
program files - yet the old application keeps on running. Or in this case got hung on launching.

It's because Microsoft - in their infinite wisdom - copies your install
folder to a secret place and actually runs that version, not the one in
program files - unless your installer is authenticated -or- you turn of
UAC temporarily.

Somebody else pointed out ... BookingCenterworks fine as it deals with
the situation.

the solution for earlier versions or any other similar programs is to turn of UAC - if only temporarily
