Connecting via ODB From An Error

If your connection to the ODB server has been lost, it is likely because

1) your network is down

2) your Server has changed its static IP address or

3) the ODB server application is not running on your Server.

How to verify which one of the above has occurred?

1) Try to find the server. When BookingCenter launches, and gives you an error, choose OK. When the program loads, choose 'Change Datafile' from the File menu. Click the ‘Open’ button and navigate to the ODB_Admin.df1 inside the ODB Admin Tool folder (Windows) or the “OmnisDataBrige“ (Macintosh) on the Server. Double click the ODB_Admin.df1 found there. If all is well, then BookingCenter will simply login to your datafile.

 * If the server can not be seen, then contact your Network Administrator. Work BookingCenter from your Server until the network has been restored. Until it is restored, the Client will not be able to connect.

2) If the Server can be found, but an error about the 'ODB Server' is received, then the ODB Server may not be running. In this case, open the ODB Admin Tool (on Mac, this is in the /Applications/ folder. Under Windows, it is at Program Files / ODB Admin Tool). Click the button at the bottom of the tabbed interface ‘ODB Control” called ‘Restart”. This ought to have started the ODB Server and your BookingCenter Desktop 'clients' ought to now be able to login again if the problem was 'ODB Server' was not running.

3) The Server's IP address has changed and the BookingCenter Client no longer knows where to login. If this is the case, open the ODB Admin Tool (on Mac, this is in the /Applications/ folder. Under Windows, it is at Program Files / ODB Admin Tool). From the ODB Admin menu, choose ODB Admin Preferences, click the Options menu (the tab at the top of the window you are viewing) and make sure the IP address of the server is set correctly. If it is not, click the button ‘Read IP’ and it will read the server’s IP address and set it for you.

Note: the Sever must have a static (manual address) in order to network – DHCP cannot be used for the server, though it can be for each client on the network. Consult your Network Administrator for advice on how to setup and protect your Macintosh or mixed Macintosh/Windows network. BookingCenter has a FAQ on this topic at: https://support.bookingcenter.com/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/114

After setting the IP address correctly for the server IP, place the cursor in the ‘Actions’ menu, at top right of the screen, and choose ‘Commit Changes and Restart ODB”.

Close the ODB Manager Preferences window. You are now viewing the Omnis Databridge Administration window.

Click the button at the bottom of the tabbed interface ‘ODB Control” called ‘Restart”. This ought to have started the ODB Server and your BookingCenter Desktop 'clients' ought to now be able to login again.
