The question of which device to get is based on pesonal preferences and how you will use it.  For example, if your device will always be at the 'front desk' of a hotel, one that is wired with an ethernet cable is probably fine and it prevents any issues with wireless networks.

But if you will be traveling with your EMV device, such as bringing it home in the evenings, or to your 'off season' house to manage payments remotely via EMV, then you may wish for a wireless one that has good battery power so it can run in more places.

Keep in mind, every time you change networks, the EMV device will have to be powered down and then up to obtain a new network address.

If you are going to manage a wireless network using a mobile tablet/phone's 'hot spot' and connect your EMV device that way, you are going to have to become proficient in managing your tether to accept DHCP connections from your 'hot spot'.  Do some research before attempting this, as DHCP (required for connecting an EMV device to a 'hot spot') will operate differently on different tethering operating systems (iOS and Android) and differing devices.
