UnionPay Credit and Debit Card use with MyCard Payment Gateway

UnionPay is a credit and debit card provided by Chinese banks.  It is similar to Visa or MasterCard.  In the world outside of China, this card type rides on the Discover platform.   Thus, in order to use it, a BookingCenter customer would:

1) need to be setup with MyCard to accept Discover cards.  Learn more about MyCard at: http://www.bookingcenter.com/interfaces-and-modules/mycard/.  We can turn on UnionPay for you if you request us to do so.

2) the UnionPay card would need to be set as credit card or debit card with no PIN requirement.  Only the Chinese card-issuing bank for the consumer would know whether this consideration was met.  UnionPay is ususally setup to work as a credit card, but it can require a PIN in order to process a debit payment.  In such cases, BookingCenter can not support the transaction.

Thus, if your property is setup to accept Discover cards, and a guest with a UnionPay card shows up, swipe it or manually enter it as any other credit card. If it works, you can be assured that the transaction will go through and fund normally as if it was a Discover transaction.  If it does not go through, and you get an error response, then the guest may have insufficient funds or the transaction requires a PIN entry that BookingCenter can't support for UnionPay at this time.
