Trouble Installation on Mac OS X 10.6 or 10.7 - Snow Leopard and Lion

When installing BookingCenter Desktop on SOME new Snow Leopard or Lion Macs (very few, in our tests), BookingCenter Pro may fail when it tries to create the 'scratch' libs which are saved on the user's hard disk. It ought to write 2 files in the /Users/username/library/preferences/MasterObjects folder and subfolders. These 2 files need to be r/w (read/write) for all users. See the screen shot attached to this Knowledgebase for a visual look at the files you need to have working.

To make these changes open the finder and navigate to /Users/Username/Library/Perferences/MasterObjects Preferences/ and locate the folder named 'Temporary Items'. Get Info on the folder 'Temporary Items' and in the bottom section titled 'Sharing & Permissions' find the name 'everyone' and change it from 'Read Only' to 'Read & Write'. Close Get info and BookingCenter should now launch normally.

If you cannot get this to work with your skill as a system administrator, then the 'Apple Migration Assistant' tool that Apple provides with each new Mac will do this for you. See the article at: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4413 and have the Migration Assistant transfer your files from the older Mac to the new Mac and then the Desktop Pro work on your new 10.6 or 10.7 Mac.

One of the error messages associated with this permissions issue is a popup window stating insufficient memory available for Omnis.
